Linux Audio Development (LAD)
Ever since I started using Linux exclusively for music production in 2019, I've had the privilege of working closely with audio vendors, helping them bring their macOS and Windows audio software to Linux.
The range of, e.g., native audio plugins as well as native audio instrument plugins for Linux is ever-growing (see Linux DAW). However, to further strengthen the momentum in this movement, I am pleased to present today my initiative called Linux Audio Development, or LAD. 🥳
1. Purpose
Promote native audio software for Linux through a comprehensive developer resource.
2. Goal
Inspire audio vendors to offer their products for Linux.
3. State
I did research, created a brand, put together an initial set of content with the help of my fellow Linux musician friends alf, Christoph Strauss and G M Slater and crafted a very basic, albeit hand-made, website.
The website is nowhere near finished, let alone good enough to fulfill its purpose. It is also very much tailored around my own perspective and setup. 🫣
But since I haven't had enough resources to work on a deeper level on the project for a while now, and I am slowly running out of patience (due to excitement 😉) to see this initiative learn to fly, I am turning to you, the Linux Audio community, and asking you for your input, first and foremost to complete or improve the content.
So, if you're passionate about having a broader range of native audio software available on Linux and have expertise in this area, please take a look at the website and reach out with feedback at amadeus@linuxaudio.dev. 😇
4. Vision
Involvement of vendors and the community; improvements to the functionality and content of the site, step by step.
